BOOOOOKS

BOOOOOKS invites a single arts publisher at a time and presents a selection of their work. For the third season, a collection from British-Belgian publisher Occasional Papers is presented. Occasional Papers is
a non-profit publisher of affordable books devoted to the histories of architecture, art, design, film and literature. Founded in 2008 by Sara De Bondt and Antony Hudek, recent titles include Off the Grid: Histories of Belgian graphic design and a second edition of Seeing Things: Collected Writing on Art, Craft and Design

Frans Masereel Centrum, in collaboration with BOOOOOKS, invites you for a toast to the brand new publication 'DE-AD' (2022) by Wim Cuyvers on Sunday, May 29th.

During the presentation and artist talk at bookshop and cultural platform BOOOOOKS, architect-artist-writer Cuyvers will discuss all the publications he has made and contributed to until now, focusing on the substantive aspects, as well as the formal and (sometimes hidden) structural choices of his work. He will also look ahead to the upcoming publication 'Montavoies' ,which, like 'L'Autre' and 'DE-AD', will be published by the Frans Masereel Centrum.

'DE-AD' can be seen as the sequel to the successful book 'Text over Text' from 2005. This time, however, Cuyvers not only bundles essays, but also drawings of architectural projects that were never executed. In this way, Cuyvers gives an overview of the spaces he has searched and searches for, abstracting and naming the elements that characterize those spaces, while, on the other hand, making explicit his world view.
